Join Idea Lab as we design, test and build our very own toy store by using found object such as batteries, magnets, old gadgets to design, build and fine tune simple toys. This camp will challenge our budding engineers to be creative in repurposing preexisting objects into new toys that spin, move, light up or do other cool things while teaching them about Engineering principles.
IDEA Lab Robotics provides fun, hands-on projects to get your child’s creative juices flowing. Working with a Robotics teacher, campers will participate in team challenges and learn how to build robots using various LEGO programming tools- all while making friends, developing new skills and having a great time with STEAM
IDEA Lab campers will learn to work with Stop Motion Animation and learn how to take pictures and put them together to create their very own stop Dinosaur Stop Motion movie. Throughout the week we will work on creating dinosaur models, learn about our GIANT friends and create habitats and storylines to bring these amazing creatures to life in our Stop Motion Adventure.
Have you ever wondered why planes fly so high? How do helicopters just hover as if they were a hummingbird? What are the future applications of flight? Young campers will ask these questions as we explore the science of flight. They will even examine the use of flight by animals. Projects include different flying apparatus, stop-motion animation, and the exploration of all the things that fly.
Learning to code with Idea Lab is engaging and fun even at a young age. Kids rapidly learn fundamental programming concepts as they drag and drop their way to writing actual code and creating a working program.

In this Intro to Robotics camp, we will be using our engineering focus to guide us. Using the latest Lego Robotics Technologies, Mindstorm EV3s, campers will be challenged with intricate builds via instructions, make creative builds using their imagination and program their robots all along the way. There will be competitions to test our skills, and in the end we will all become robotics masters.

What Fizzes and Crackles? Science, of course. In this IDEA Lab camp we will explore the fun, the messy and the educational concepts behind Chemical Reactions. Create volcanoes to explore the science of reactions, get gooey and slimy to learn about polymers and have a great deal of Scientific fun in the process. Who knew our kitchen could create such a slimy scientific mess? Join our Idea Lab scientists as we mix, measure and pour messy and crazy creations. Put on your apron AND your lab coat -- let's get messy.
With mobile app designing, you are in charge of the look and feel of your app. In this camp, campers will learn the basics of designing their own mobile app. After completing this camp they will have the basic knowledge of what the best ways are to design your own app, whether it be a game or an interactive learning app. Campers will be also be able to download and share their app.
Discover how Hollywood shoots and edits movies, while mastering filmmaking and special effects techniques. Develop a story idea, then turn that concept into a script and a shot-by-shot storyboard of the camera angles. Campers will storyboard, shoot and act in their own movie as well as create their own movie trailers, posters and advertising campaigns.
An American Girl: American History through Stories
Campers will learn about important events and eras in the history of our nation using the stories and books based on this great series. They will journey through time as they create clothing and accessory pieces for their dolls reflective of these periods while learning about the culture and history in a FUN and engaging way.
Are you interested in circuitry? Do you know how circuitry works? Come and join this fun and interactive camp that will teach you how to build circuits. We will light up lightsabers, create interactive greeting cards, build games and much more - all with the power of circuits.
Get familiar with microcontrollers, learn the basics of using electronic
components and building your first robot with micro controllers. This camp is a hands on experience with micro controllers, motors, sensors, wires, the “nuts and bolts” (pun intended) of real robotics. Utilizing off the shelf “real world” hardware and software, campers will gain valuable robotics skills enabling them to either continue exploration at home or explore new areas of electronics, fun and learning. Once the basics of programming their first micro controller powered robot is understood, the sky’s the limit to what they can do with these fabulous marvels of technology.
n this camp, campers will utilize basic baking skills to create treats that are not only delicious, but beautiful to look at as well! Emphasis will be placed on the art and joy of baking as well as creative presentation of treats.
Little Doctors work on learning about what makes our body work.
From learning about digestive systems and building working models
of our lungs while studying the respiration process, our Little Doctors are engaged in learning throughout. We learn about casts, sutures
and more, and we end the class with a clinic to showcase our talents. One of the most popular camps each year with a fantastic turnout as young campers explore the beginning stages of becoming a doctor. Starting with science exploration and experiments, as well as creative play, the campers enter the world of medicine. Don't have your doctor's bag with you? Don't worry- you will after completing this camp. Campers will proudly carry a doctor’s bag filled with all the necessary tools, as well as a graduation certificate as a graduate of Idea Lab Medical School.
Using Minecraft and Learn to Mod, students will design and create
their own Minecraft world and then modify it to their heart’s content. Along way, they will learn basic engineering principles, and computer coding/programming techniques.
How does electricity work and what can it do? Come and explore the mysteries and fun of electric circuits, cool tricks with electricity and electrical gadgets. Now with fifty percent more electrons free!
Using Audio Engineering tools campers will work together to create a
music video of their choosing. From production to editing, campers will use learn tips and tricks on how to create scenes, design sets, add effects and more. Who knows what these campers will compose!

Want to build your own robot? In this camp you will be able to assemble your very own play robot! Come and make a new best friend in this robot filled camp. We will learn how Robots work and how sensors allow robots to maneuver and decide which actions to take based on the sensor inputs.
Get your lightsabers ready we're training new Idea Lab Jedis! Being a
￼￼￼￼jedi is more than fun, it's science also! Learn how Jedis fuels and maintain their bodies. Do some fun and exciting Jedi experiments. This camp is great for the little Jedi in your life.
An IDEA Lab camp like no other where campers are exposed to DNA extraction, learning about the inner workings of the heart by building working models and several dissections- including a Sheep’s heart. This is a great class for hands-on learning about anatomy. Take Home Components include various working models of human organs and systems, as well as a DNA book that they will create.
Take a journey with us on our cooking adventure! In this cooking class our budding chefs will learn about measurements, mixing techniques and great recipes. A recipe card follows each recipe so that our budding chefs can create their own recipe book. Each day follows a classic children’s storybook and yummy recipes related to them. Campers will jump from story to story, discovering ways to cook unique recipes. Be sure to come with an empty stomach, and a mind filled with curiosity. We’ll eat happily ever after.

Learn about the uses and limitation of one of the greenest energy sources available. During this camp there will be individual and team challenges as we work together to learn how to harness the energy of the Sun.
Using Arduino circuit kits, campers will learn all about how circuits work. This also introduces them to the C++ code that is used to provide input to the Arduino breadboards. We will then use these Arduino components to design cool gadgets that will move, blink and do other kinetic movements.

"Video Game Scripting and Strategy with Augmented Reality"
Imagine Pokemon Go meets a Game Design class. Augmented Reality is a live direct or indirect view of a physical, real-world environment whose elements are augmented (or supplemented) by computer-generated sensory input such as sound, video, graphics or GPS data. As a result, the technology functions by enhancing one’s current perception of reality. In this IDEA Lab camp, you will learn to code your own Video Game and then embed 3D animated objects within the game. Code will be provided so that you can continue to expand on your game once the camp ends.

Campers work with the easy to learn programming via the Scratch drag-and-drop programming environment and work with sprites to develop working code snippets.
Many centuries ago the land of IDEA was home to scores of species of dinosaurs. Evidence of these amazing beasts can be discovered in our very own dinosaur ridge. Spend the semester learning about these amazing beasts, creating fossils, learning to classify bones, digging for fossils and assembling dinosaur skeletons. Learn Rock classifications and geology lessons as we construct awesome rock and gem collection boards and build your own solar-powered robots to help with the excavation sites. Warning- giant volcanoes will be erupting! All junior paleontologists welcome.
