Jr. Baker's Workshop II

SUMMER CAMPS

This second Baker's workshop will have different recipes from workshop one. The smell of baked goods elicit strong emotional memories, and this camp will create and have kids recalling delicious memories. Students will develop their skills and techniques as a baker, from math skills, measuring skills, kitchen safety, food chemistry, and the integration of culture and geography. Students explore various recipes and cooking mediums throughout the camp, from customizing their own baked donuts and glazing to lemon bars to various desserts from around the world. Activate your curiousity and taste buds, Junior Bakers.

**You can combine an AM half day camp with a PM camp to make it a full day camp, with kids eating lunch from 12-12:30pm. Text us at 980-339-9396 for a 15% off coupon code that can only be used specifically for combining two half day camps into a full day.

OUR TEAM: The word is out: Idea Lab Kids in Ballantyne is the place to be when kids are not in school. Although our hands-on, vocabulary building, interactive curriculum is awesome, our amazing teachers and staff elevate our program to another level. Our teachers are certificated teachers or college students specializing in the camp's field of study. We also have teacher assistants who may be in college or in high school. We also have a dedicated gym teacher to activate kids' brain throughout the day through active play. Our owner and director is Kosal Chea, a former principal and National Board Certified Teacher with 19 years of public school leadership. Our deputy director is Kim Lattaker, former teacher leader and executive director of Eastway Recreational Center. We share the vision that learning is fun, and kids love to learn if we simply allow them to tap into their natural curiosities and imagination. Our 1:12 teacher to student ratio, and 1:6 ratio for most Jr. camps, ensure the best summer experience for your child. Thank you for supporting our family owned small business and we look forward to serving your family.

AGE RESTRICTIONS: Although our summer camps are designed for students ages 5-12, independent 4.5+ year olds may also register. We’ve proven to be a great launch pad for rising Kindergartners. Four year olds need to be able to use the restroom independently and feel comfortable learning alongside 7 year olds. We also welcome 13 year olds who love our curriculum and want to build leadership skills. Students who are 7-8 years old may select either level, a Junior or Senior camp, depending on their comfort level to be a leader or to be a younger classmate learning alongside older models. We encourage parents to evaluate both social and academic readiness/maturity of a student in making these decisions. Students ages 14-15 can interview for a volunteer position to deepen their content knowledge, develop teaching/leadership skills, and build a resume for college and future jobs. Students ages 16-18 may apply for a teaching assistant position.

PLEASE NOTE: Bring a water bottle and a nut-free lunch, or you can order a catered lunch through us (a schedule of restuarants to be determined). We will provide a morning and afternoon snacks (a rotation of pretzels, Goldfish, frozen yogurt, popcorn, etc) but feel free to bring your own snacks. Please label all water bottles and jackets. Before care (7:30-9:00am) and after care (3:30-6:00pm) can be added to your registration. During before and after care, we do a guided activity, have extra gym time, and time for free exploration. You may pick up and drop off right at the curb in front of our door so you do no need to park. Drop off times are from 8:50-9:00am, and pick up time for half day camps is between 11:45-12:00, and for full day camps from 3:15-3:30pm. Be sure to review our refund policy and Parent Handbook. Call, or for the fastest response, text us if you have any questions: 980-339-9396.
