IDEA Lab Kids Richmond Hill Jul 11, 2022 - Jul 15, 2022     09:00 AM - 03:30 PM Mon, Tue, Wed, Thu, Fri Class schedule

126 Tower Hill, #B11-12 , Richmond Hill, Ontario   L4E 4L9

Our 1-week Leader-In-Training (LIT) program for youth ages 13-17 years old is a unique opportunity to build self-confidence, grow leadership soft skills and improve communication skills.

LIT's will gain first-hand experience as they assist a group of campers while shadowing experienced leaders who will provide them with valuable feedback, constructive debriefing and close personal support to help LIT’s identify and develop their strengths and build the skills they need to be extraordinary leaders.

LIT’s are expected to be engaged, participate fully in the program and help in all of the activities that their group undertakes. They must also:

• Enjoy and be comfortable working with children of all ages
• Be interested in furthering their leadership skills
• Be able to communicate openly with campers, peers and supervisors
• Be an appropriate role model for campers
• Behave in a mature, responsible manner at all times during camp

Each LIT will have an opportunity to develop independent leadership skills by planning, organizing and leading a group activity. The Campus Director and Instructors serve as resource staff to provide LIT’s with assistance, guidance and feedback. Upon completion of the one-week session, each LIT will receive a written evaluation and a certificate. In addition, LIT’s earn 40 volunteer hours per week.

Applicants are expected to come to IDEA Lab Kids for a group interview (3 or 4 applicants/group). This gives LIT’s the chance to develop interview skills in a comfortable setting. The interview is also a time to meet the Campus Director, enabling the Director to match each LIT with an appropriate counsellor and camper group, thus ensuring an enjoyable experience for the LIT. All LIT's are also expected to participate in an orientation and training prior to the start of camp.
