Animateurs A2 (Ages 8–10)
2 hours per week — September to June
Our Animateurs A2 program is for children ages 8–10 who have already completed the beginner A1 stage or who have prior French learning experience. At this level, students move beyond the basics and begin to communicate more independently, using French to describe, narrate, and express opinions on familiar topics.
Classes focus on strengthening oral communication, reading comprehension, and writing, while deepening vocabulary and grammar knowledge to align with CEFR A2 objectives.
Program Focus:
-
Oral Communication: Engage in longer conversations, roleplay real-life situations (shopping, travelling, hobbies), and express opinions.
-
Listening Skills: Understand simple spoken French in classroom instructions, stories, and short dialogues without needing constant repetition.
-
Reading Skills: Read and understand short stories, dialogues, letters, and simple informational texts.
-
Writing Skills: Produce short paragraphs, notes, and messages; write simple narratives about daily routines, past experiences, or future plans.
-
Grammar Expansion: Reinforce present tense, introduce passé composé and futur proche, use question forms, prepositions, and more complex sentence structures.
-
Vocabulary Themes: Everyday life, school, food & restaurants, clothing, travel, celebrations, hobbies, health, and community.
-
Cultural Exploration: Learn about French and Francophone traditions, celebrations, and lifestyle through projects and discussions.
CEFR Progression:
By the end of the school year, Animateurs A2 students will be able to:
-
Understand and use frequently used expressions related to everyday life.
-
Communicate in routine situations requiring a simple exchange of information.
-
Describe personal experiences, routines, and future plans with increasing accuracy.
-
Write short, connected sentences to share ideas and opinions.
Format & Group Size:
-
Classes run once a week for 2 hours, September to June.
-
Maximum of 8 students per group to encourage participation and confidence.
-
Regular feedback ensures families can track progress.
Outcome:
By June, students will have completed the A2 level of the CEFR, preparing them to move toward the B1 pre-teen stage (our Fonceurs group), where they’ll expand into more complex communication and academic skills in French.
