Animateurs A2 / French Immersion
2 hours per week
Our Animateurs French Immersion program is tailored for children in Ontario’s French Immersion stream. These weekly classes reinforce and expand what students are learning in school, while providing a smaller group environment where they can practice French with confidence.
With a focus on both academic success and real-life communication, students strengthen their oral, reading, and writing skills through interactive activities, cultural projects, and structured practice.
Program Focus:
-
Oral Communication: Participate in conversations, roleplay, and debates on familiar topics (school, friends, hobbies, culture).
-
Reading Skills: Improve comprehension through French short stories, dialogues, and leveled texts that mirror curriculum themes.
-
Writing Skills: Develop accuracy in sentence structure, grammar, and vocabulary; write short paragraphs and descriptions.
-
Grammar Foundations: Review and expand knowledge of present tense verbs, begin past and future tenses, question formation, and proper use of pronouns and adjectives.
-
Cultural Connection: Discover French and Francophone culture through songs, games, and projects tied to seasonal themes and celebrations.
CEFR Progression:
-
Animateurs work at the A1.2 to A2 level, building on early French Immersion foundations.
-
By the end of the school year, students are expected to understand simple texts, ask and answer questions, express opinions, and describe everyday experiences more confidently in French.
Format & Group Size:
-
Classes run once a week for 2 hours
-
Small group format (maximum 8 students) ensures individualized support and active participation.
-
Progress is tracked to align with both the Ontario French Immersion curriculum and CEFR objectives.
Outcome:
By June, students will have gained the confidence and fluency to participate more actively in their French Immersion classrooms, while advancing steadily toward the A2 level of the CEFR.
